You’re Not Failing Because You’re Lazy.

It's Worse.

People think success collapses because of laziness.

But here’s the truth — Success doesn’t collapse from lack of discipline. It collapses from distraction.

We glorify grind. We worship “force.” But discipline?

It’s not about pushing harder — it’s about removing friction.

The Slip That Woke Me Up

Last night, I caught myself scrolling Instagram.

I told myself: “Let’s just check my DM’s for 5 minutes” “It’s harmless.”

But when I closed the app, it wasn’t just time I lost — I lost energy, I got distracted by thoughts, and got a little angry. (because the DM’s took me back to my past)

That’s when it clicked.

You don’t fail because you’re lazy. You fail because you’re leaking attention.

Every scroll, every notification, every mindless tap — It all adds friction between you and the life you say you want.

And that friction? That’s when you start negotiating with your identity.

The Real Enemy

People think discipline means pressure — force — willpower.

But the truth is simpler:

Discipline is doing less of the wrong things.

Every creator fights two kinds of resistance:

External: notifications, noise, distractions.

Internal: guilt, overthinking, emotional spirals.

You don’t beat resistance by adding pressure. You beat it by removing friction.

What I Changed

Here’s what helped me:

Phone on DND throughout the day - except for calls from family.

5 mins breathwork after every work block — no negotiation.

Morning system = 30 mins walk + 90 mins writing. (no notifications)

Every subtraction gave me more clarity. Less resistance meant more momentum.

“You are rehearsing your future every day — consciously or unconsciously.”

Joe Dispenza

If you rehearse distraction, you become distracted.

If you rehearse focus, you become disciplined.

Writing = Identity Training

This is why I write every morning. Not because it’s “productive.”

But because it’s:

  • meditative

  • gives clarity

  • builds identity

  • builds discipline

  • and you get sharper

Every sentence I write is a vote for one thing: “I choose creation over chaos.”

The Lesson:

You don’t rise by adding effort. You rise by removing resistance.

Simple systems > intense ones.

Friction kills consistency faster than failure ever will.

Success isn’t built on intensity. It’s built on frictionless repetition.
